Edmond Bits

Back when I was a kid, there was a burger and steak restaurant at the corner of Seventh and Broadway.  I'm not sure when it closed, but I believe it was in the mid to late seventies.  The building was incorporated into a small strip mall, and the painted signs on the building were covered over.  Recently, however, the strip mall was redone, and the covering was removed.  I was delighted to find that the painted sign on the sides of the building were still there.
A view of the south side.

A better view.

The north side.

A new façade was added to the whole strip mall, concealing the old Bevo's signs.

In downtown, there is a Restaurant called Jim's Italian.  It occupies the back portion of what once was the Oklahoma Tire and Supply Co. (OTASCO).  My father seemed to be able to find a reason to shop there every weekend when I was in grade school.  In addition to the restaurant, the owner has his glass blowing studio in the front of the building.  Big wooden doors open to the sidewalk, so that anyone downtown can stop by and watch him and his son-in-law work.

A couple I know, Loggan and Steve operate a food trailer at weekend arts and craft shows.
A candid shot of Loggan.

Loggan's son having a bite to eat out in front of the trailer.
This was at the Labor Day Jazz Festival in May of 2012 in Stephenson Park.

I snapped this shot of the Ruhl house at 1st and University during a gap in the Fourth of July Parade in 2012.
I've snagged several portions of this photo for potential paintings.

Something's going on at the neighbors' house.

Seems the storm sewer needed some work under Eighth Street.

That's a pretty deep hole.

A new grocery store in my neighborhood.  The sign already needs fixing.
